Ingredients:
- 1 cup bengal gram dal/channa dal
- 1 tbsp rice flour/ besan
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 green chillies
- 4 pepper corns
- 2" ginger
- salt to taste
- 2tsp curry leaves finely chopped
- 2 tsp coriander leaves finely chopped
- pinch asafotiida/hing
- oil for frying
Method:
- Soak the dals for 2 hrs, drain the water and keep it aside.
- Grind dals, greeen chillies ,ginger without adding water, to a coarse paste(it should be dry. Do not grind the chana dal to make it a smooth paste, if there is whole daal in it, its fine. It will taste good when you fry it.)
- Add salt and black pepper to the above.
- Remove the ground masala from mixer/blender and mix it with onion, coriander leaves, curry leaves and hing .
- Make small balls and press with your palm to make it flat.
- Keep oil to heat and deep fry on a low flame.
- Drain well on tissue papper.
- Serve hot with coconut chutney or coriander chutney
