AMBODE/ masala vada:

AMBODE/ masala vada: 
                channa dal vada 

            


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup bengal gram dal/channa dal
  • 1 tbsp rice flour/ besan
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 green chillies
  • 4 pepper corns
  • 2" ginger
  • salt to taste
  • 2tsp  curry leaves finely chopped
  • 2 tsp coriander leaves finely chopped
  • pinch asafotiida/hing
  • oil for frying


Method:
  • Soak the dals for 2 hrs, drain the water and keep it aside.
  • Grind dals, greeen  chillies ,ginger without adding water, to a coarse paste(it should be dry. Do not grind the chana dal to make it a smooth paste, if there is whole daal in it, its fine. It will taste good when you fry it.)
  • Add salt and black pepper to the above.
  • Remove the ground masala from mixer/blender and mix it with onion, coriander leaves, curry leaves and hing  . 
  • Make small balls and press with your palm to make it flat.
           
  • Keep oil to heat and deep fry on a low flame.
  • Drain well on tissue papper.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney or coriander chutney
