Instant Gulab Jamun Recipe

Gulab Jamun with MTR Ready Mix Recipe:







Ingredients for Syrup:
  • 1½ cups            Sugar
  • 2½ cups              Water
  • 4                        Green Cardamom Pods (or 1/4 teaspoon Cardamom Powder)


Ingredients for Jamuns:
  • 100 gms Pack of MTR Gulab Jamun Ready Mix (or any other brand)
  • 3-4 tbsp  Milk or Water
  • Oil or Ghee, for deep frying


Method:
  • Take 1½ cups sugar, 4 green cardamom pods and 2½ cups water in a deep pan.
  • Stir until sugar dissolves and bring it to boil over medium flame. When it comes to  boil, reduce flame to low and cook it until syrup turns little sticky, it will take around 10-12 minutes. When syrup is ready, turn off the flame.
  • Take a 100gms pack of MTR Gulab Jamun Ready Mix. (You can use any brand of ready mix.)
  • Take a bowl add jamun ready mix powder
  • Sprinkle 3 tbsp of milk evenly over it.
  • Mix it together gently using your hand. 
  • Knead the mixture into smooth and soft dough. If mixture turns dry, add few tablespoons of milk and knead again.
  • Grease your palms with oil and divide mixture into marble sized small portions Take each portion and make a round shaped crack free ball from it. If crack appears, it means mixture is dry. Add a teaspoon of milk (or few drops of milk) to the mixture, mix well and make the ball.
  • Heat the ghee or oil for deep frying in a deep kadai or a small pan over medium flame. When oil is medium hot,  Slowly drop  balls  from sides of a kadai and reduce the flame to low.
  • Stir gently with a slotted spoon and deep fry over low flame ,until they turn golden brown. 
  • Transfer them over to kitchen napkin to absorb excess oil using slotted spoon. 
  • Heat the sugar syrup for 3-4 minutes and add deep fried jamuns in it. Keep the jamuns in syrup for at least 2 hours before serving to allow it to absorb the syrup properly. You will notice their increase in size as syrup gets absorbed.
  •  Jamuns are ready for serving.

TIPS:
  • If you want prefer oil over ghee for deep frying, consider adding 2-3 tablespoons ghee in oil to get its nice flavor without its calories.
  • Sugar syrup must be warm (not hot) when you add deep fried jamuns in it.
  • Allow jamuns to cool for 5-minutes after deep frying before adding them to warm sugar syrup.
